Ben with Philedelphia Flyer center R.J. Umberger2818 viewsIt was a few days before Super Bowl XL and members of the Philadelphia Flyers were asked to predict who they thought was going to win the game. Over a dozen players selected the Steelers, but none of them with the passion and enthusiasm for the black and gold than center R.J. Umberger.
"Steelers, 24-21," predicted Umberger. "I believe they are a better team and Big Ben is a better quarterback. He is going to lead them."
Umberger particularly wanted to meet quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. He presented him with a #7 Flyers jersey with Roethlisberger on the back. He also had him sign a Steelers jersey and a few other items.

And despite the fact that he is a professional athlete himself, it was a thrill for Umberger to see his favorite player up close and personal.

Ben with his family in Switzerland - 20062018 viewsThe U.S. Embassy was never closer to American Football than last Sunday evening: The famous Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger (winner of the 2006 Super Bowl), attended a dinner in his honor at the Embassy's Residence in Bern. Before this dinner, the American Employees Association organized a "Meet and Greet" with the superstar. His visit to the Residence was a tremendous success. More than 40 people attended and it is not a surprise that more children hailed "Big Ben" than employees and their spouses. For the dinner, the Chargé d'affaires, Carol Urban invited the two quarterbacks from Switzerland's own football teams: the Bern Grizzlies' Mario Dini and the Bienna Jets' Kevin Keene. Earlier in the day, Ben Roethlisberger watched the Jets and the Grizzlies play a Swiss National Football League game, which was won by the Grizzlies 14-9.
