May 6, 2012 - Graduation Day3590 viewsBen poses with his wife and family.
From USA Today:
Sunday would be a fine early Mother's Day present.
"Nine years later," Roethlisberger said, "we finally got it. When I told my parents, my mom teared up."
There was never a question of not marching. This day was for the family. Audrey Roethlisberger's first reaction at seeing her grandson in a graduation gown? "It fits."

February 9, 2013 - Miami University Hall of Fame Induction Weekend2143 viewsBen poses with Cary Feltman, Justin Shigley, and Ian Sterner outside after the Induction Dinner in Oxford, OH.
Cary and his friends attended the Dinner and he had this to share about Ben's speech during the evening:
"It was very respectful of Coach 'Hep' and about how he was the reason he went to Miami University. [Talked] about the players that paved the way for him and the players that were to follow. He cracked some jokes about taking so long to graduate. Also before he stood up to do his speech, the lady that was announcing the players and giving a brief of their accomplishments before they would come up accidentally called him Brian Roethlisberger. So when he walked up to the podium he says, 'Sorry, Brian couldn't make it tonight, so I'm filling in for him.' He had the room laughing pretty good." -- Cary
*Thank you so much Cary!!

February 9, 2013 - Miami University Hall of Fame Induction Weekend2821 viewsRoethlisberger was Saturday’s headliner and spoke about his affection for Miami and the degree that he finalized in 2012. His last football season in Oxford was 2003, when the RedHawks went 13-1 and earned a No. 10 ranking by the Associated Press.
“I’m honored to be a graduate, to have my number retired, to be in the Hall of Fame now and to say that I went to Miami,†Roethlisberger said. “People all the time ask, why Miami? And I say obviously the academics and a chance to play early and Coach Hoeppner.â€
Of the bachelor’s degree in education that he picked up last May, the 30-year-old Findlay High School graduate said it was something he always hoped to obtain.
“It was a bigger goal early on, and then as you start getting sidetracked, offseasons get shorter and things are going on,†Roethlisberger said. “Having a son on the way — and now he’s here — it just kind of motivated me further to get it done and just to tell my son and hopefully more kids that I got my degree and how important education is.â€

"It was such an awesome day! Getting to meet Ben was more of a thrill than I can express. He was so nice to everyone and didn't seem to mind so many wanting a picture and autograph. He even signed my Terrible Towel. Getting to attend a Steeler game at Heinz Field is on my bucket list but of that doesn't happen, I've experienced the next best thing, meeting Ben. Being part of his website has made my day!!" -- Diane

May 6, 2012 - Graduation Day5393 viewsBen poses with his wife Ashley after receiving his diploma.
From USA Today:
Roethlisberger’s autumns have been kind of busy. And something always seemed to prevent him from enrolling in time for the winter term. AFC Championship Games, for instance.
But the Steelers were quick outs against Denver the past season and the morning after the defeat, his Miami academic advisor sent him an email. Roethlisberger figured it was a note of condolence. Instead, it was a call to class.
“He responded in less than 20 minutes,†said Melissa Chase, associate dean. “He never asked for a shortcut. It was always, ‘What do I need to do?’ He did everything we asked of him. I know this was always a very important goal for him.â€
What they asked of him at the end included a paper on Tibet. “Which I knew nothing about,†he said. Analyzing the New England defense was never like this. But luckily wife Ashley, with two degrees, makes a swell study buddy. He ended up with an A, and possibly more knowledge of Tibet than any quarterback in the NFL.

February 9, 2013 - Miami University Hall of Fame Induction Weekend2315 views“When they called and told me, it was an awesome honor. I am really proud to have graduated. People were laughing because my jersey was already retired. But to be in the Hall of Fame with the people there, it’s a super year. I think it speaks highly of Miami as a university to honor me at the same time of graduation. I think that speaks on how important they think of academics.†– Ben, during his graduation week from MU, May, 2012.
