August 3, 2020 - Training Camp at Heinz Field196 views"I think any athlete, any competitor, will tell you they want to go out on their own terms. It doesn't happen all the time, we don't always get lucky. Whether that's trades, cuts, injuries, whatever that is. I think that if I felt that I was closer to the end, it might have been more of a decision for me to think longer about coming back or not. But I didn't feel that I was close to that yet. I'm not saying I've got 10 years left in me, but I definitely feel like I've got some really good years left in me. That was definitely a motivating factor, coming back and showing that I still have it in the tank. I still have a lot to give this team. I still have a lot to give the fans."And I just want to win Lombardis. And I say that with a plural on the end." -- Ben.

August 1, 2010747 viewsFrom Ben's chat with the media on the first day of camp:
Q: Was it nice to hear the fans welcome you?
Ben: “Yeah, it was good to be out here. I walked out and Hines and I walked out together and they cheered pretty loud so it was fun.â€
Q: Were you concerned the crowd reaction was going to be negative?
Ben: “I didn’t know. I was a little nervous and scared about it but it was neat to hear everybody cheering and seeing my jersey and a lot of encouragement.â€
Q: Are you relieved this first step is over, getting out there in front of fans?
Ben: “Absolutely. This morning I talked to some friends and family between practices at lunch and everyone asked ‘How did it go, how did it go?’ I wasn’t worried about this morning’s practice. I did pretty well. It was this afternoon’s one but I think it went well. I think I completed every pass so the football side went well and the fans were warm and loving as I hoped they would be.â€
Q: Hines Ward said you have been more engaging with the other players. Did you feel that was something necessary after this offseason?
Ben: “That’s me in general, being more personable. I understand that these guys have a lot of support and a lot of love for me. A lot of them came to me (Saturday) and said, ‘Don’t worry about it because we’ve got your back no matter what.’ That really was special.â€

February 2, 2011 - Press Conference798 views"To assess all the times that I get to be up here...The first time that you do it, it's very overwhelming. When I see you guys, the Pittsburgh media, there's usually five or six of you guys. Now you have to sit in front of a bunch of you guys. I think you learn to get more comfortable with it and enjoy it. The first time when I went to Detroit I said it a bunch and I said it to myself: you just never know if you're going to get back. But I think deep down you're like 'I'm getting back.' Now, I think I take the approach that you just never know. This could be the last one and why not enjoy every aspect of it?" -- On what his third trip to the Super Bowl means to him.
