February, 2013 - Garrett Koch's school project463 viewsGarrett and his teacher, Mrs. Stahlman, pose with his poster.
Students in Mrs. Stahlman's third grade class at Big Walnut Elementary School in Sunbury, Ohio recently learned about biographies through an interest-based project. Students were given the choice of a famous person that they wanted to research. Their end project was the biography poster. Garrett is a huge Steelers fan and loves wearing his Roethlisberger jersey to school, so the choice of completing his project on Big Ben was an easy one!
Mark Cooper, Principal of Big Walnut Elemetary (and a big Steelers fan himself) tweeted Garrett's awesome poster to the site's Twitter page!
And thank you to Garrett's parents, both of whom are Cleveland Browns fans, for allowing us to share Garrett's work with his fellow Steelers fans!

February 27, 2021 - The art...351 viewsand the heart of an 8-year old fan!
“I found my 8 year old daughter’s home school work on the table today – she had to pick three idols to draw and write about what makes them ‘great’. We live in the UK where the NFL is not a major sport, so I’m not sure the teachers will know, and she didn’t quite nail the spelling of Ben’s name – however I thought he might like to know that in the mind of an 8-year old girl in London UK ; he is held in similar high regard to Greta Thunberg and JK Rowling…
Regards,
Gavin Marshall (work by Elle Jay Marshall, 8)â€
Elle Jay, you did a great job on your project! And what a high honor for Big Ben!

June 19, 2012 - On the way to Ireland!751 viewsFrom Gina Huss, Pittsburgh native and Die-Hard Steelers fan:
There were 6 of us (all born and raised in Pittsburgh!) going on a trip to Europe where we would be visiting Ireland, Wales, England, and France.. For 2 of us, it was our senior trip! We had a layover in Atlanta and then would be flying from there into Dublin airport. So there we were just hanging out in the Atlanta airport eating frozen yogurt when our adult chaperone came running over to us flailing her arms and freaking out because she just saw Big Ben with some friends at the nearby restaurant! Naturally all being from Pittsburgh, we approached him calmly and told him we were from Pittsburgh and wondered if we could take some pictures with him.
He was so nice to us and took pictures with all of us! He asked where we were going and one of his friends even knew the school district we were from! It was very cool to also find out that he was going to be on our flight to Dublin and that he was going golfing in Scotland!
To add to the already exciting meeting, when we boarded the plane and passed by him in first class, he acknowledged us as the "Pittsburgh senior trip crew" and raised his glass to us and told us to have lots of fun! We were absolutely mindblown! It was a very cool way to start off our Europe trip!
*Thank you Gina!!

Spending time at Dad's alma mater!548 viewsBig Ben and his family took a trip to Georgia Tech to show Benjamin Jr. where his grandpa Ken played his college ball. While they were there, Ben stopped to pose with two of GT's best football players, Corey Dennis and Sean Tobin.
Sean sent the photo to his aunt, Edy Castronovo (whose family is part of Steeler Nation New Jersey), who said that not only was Sean very excited to meet Ben, but he also said it was an "incredible privilege to meet one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time."
Sean also wanted to add:
"It was great to meet Ben, he's a stand up guy. Was really fun guy to be around and spoke to a couple of us for quite some time, he threw some motivation at us and was telling us to enjoy the offseason, take advantage of it cause your opponent is getting better. Thanks again Ben!"
Just a few of the tweets about Ben's visit to Georgia Tech:
@steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger dropped by yesterday. His dad Ken was backup QB & pitcher at #GaTech in mid-70's -- Georgia Tech Sports @GTAthletics
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger just visited to our football offices with his family. Really nice guy. Down to earth. Father is a GT alum. -- Ryan Bamford @GTbammer24 (Ryan is a Senior Associate AD at Georgia Tech)
Ben Roethlisberger came by GT today. Dude is huge in person, no wonder why defenders struggle to get him down! -- Brandon Oliver @B_Oliver82

The Guthrie Family449 views"My family at the Steelers/Cardinals game here at the University of Phoenix Stadium in week 7 of 2011. I brought my mom Myrtle Evans, my sister Erika Schaltenbrand, brother-in-law Dale Schaltenbrand, and their son Joey Schaltenbrand down from the 'Burgh, and Rajan and I took them to the game. It was like a home game; I'm sure there were more Steelers' fans than Cards' fans at the stadium that day! It was one of the best days, maybe THE best day we've all ever spent together." -- Richard Guthrie
