A Make-A-Wish Day to remember1617 views Brandon’s Make-A-Wish was to meet Big Ben and the Steelers. That day was the best day since Brandon was diagnosed with cancer.†– Brett Brawdy, father of Brandon.
The Brawdy family reached out to us this week to share their son, Brandon’s experience in meeting Big Ben, Brett Keisel and all of their teammates in August of 2012.
“The smile and awe that was on my nephew’s face that day, captured in photos that we will forever cherishâ€, said his aunt, Janice Brawdy. “He lit up when he was around them. I love looking at all the photos! It was such an amazing, wonderful day for him. Thank you Big Ben and all the Steelers family for making Bran’s day one of the best days ever!â€Apr 11, 2013

A Make-A-Wish Day to remember1423 views“The day Brandon got to meet the Steelers, Ben yelled out ‘Make-A-Wish’ and was the first one to run right up to Brandon on the field as soon as the horn sounded that practice was overâ€, said Mr. Brawdy. “Then it was on…the whole team surrounded him like he was a rock star to sign his football! They stayed out there until he got to meet all of the players that were there.â€Apr 11, 2013

A Make-A-Wish Day to remember1355 viewsMore from Brandon's father:
The story behind the picture I sent of Ben reaching out to shake my wife’s hand with the huge grin on Bran’s face is one I will always remember.
After Ben yelled out make ‘Make-A-Wish’, he ran towards Bran and about five feet before he got to him, he turned towards my wife and acted like the wish was for her. Everyone that was with us cracked up laughing – it immediately put everyone at ease!
Ben also knew that Brett Keisel was one of Bran’s favorite players, so Ben was introducing himself to our family as Brett!
We just couldn’t believe how much time Ben and the Steelers spent making sure Bran had a great time.
In recent weeks Brandon’s cancer has returned with a vengeance and there is no way of stopping it now.
Brandon has battled this like a warrior for a year and a half, and his battle is coming to its final stage.
Last night (April 10, 2013) we jumped up with over 600 likes on Brandon's Facebook page thanks to the work of Ben, Erin, and Steeler Nation! I asked for a little help, and they got me a huge response! This is why I have been a Steeler fan for over 40 years! Apr 11, 2013

Connor553 viewsPatrick Williams sent this photo of his daughter Kathleen, and his late son, Connor on their last weekend together before Connor's sudden passing.

An Easter poem, written by Connor's father:
THE EASTER EGG HUNT THAT WAS NOT
By Patrick Williams
Dedicated to Connor P Williams (6/22/01-12/30/12)- Terrific Son, Wonderful Brother, Great Friend and Wonderful Little Man
Kathleen woke up on Easter morn
And she was missing you and a bit forlorn.
She said, “I wish Connor was hereâ€,
But she smiled thinking of you and shed not a tear.
“He would do an Easter egg hunt with meâ€,
Kathleen continued with a smile- bright and shiny,
“And if you took our picture, he would stand right hereâ€,
Holding her arms to her right, as if you were near.
So I took a picture of your sister alone-
A symbol of another uninvited tragedy which into our life has blown
And it is symbolic of the changes in tradition
That will forever haunt me with each and every commission.
And there were two Easter baskets in the basement-
The same number and place, but the recipients were different;
For your basket was left for me,
And it is something that I never wanted to be.
For I always thought that the Easter bunny
Would deliver baskets to both of my children- bright and sunny,
But you left us suddenly and were gone,
So that tradition, too, changed this Easter dawn.
Your best friend, Grant, came to the egg hunt.
He did it out of love and kindness- it was no stunt.
He, like you, got a good lead on your sis,
Then helped her find the other eggs, making sure none were missed.
Kathleen had fun, and Grant did, too
But we were still all missing you.
And even though all eggs were found that were sought
Because you weren’t there, it was really the Easter egg hunt that was not.
And I have cried in the wake of that busy Easter day
And I have folded my hands often to pray
For God to give me the strength to get through
All of the times I find myself greatly missing you.
And if there is one saving thought,
It is that, with Christ’s blood, our deliverance is bought
And that, because of Easter, I will once again see you,
And, then, we will smile, have good times and no longer feel blue.
