2012 Ben Roethlisberger Football Camp1183 views “We just got back from Ben’s camp in Harmony, PA. It was truly amazing! Still in awe right now, actually. I just can’t believe someone of Ben’s fame or standing was so attentive. He never seemed to take a break and was always on the field. Then throwing 487 passes so EVERY kid had the opportunity to catch one from him? I doubt anyone else does that. I was fortunate enough that not only did Bryce catch his pass, but I was able to catch the entire thing on video. Something he, WE, will always look back on as a great memory.
“But I have to say that the one thing that impressed me the most was about someone else’s kid. It was one of the younger kids who seemed to be having a difficult time emotionally. Don’t know what was wrong, but he would not get off the ground. He wasn’t hurt. It was Ben who picked him up and walked him over to the sideline, got him a drink of water, and sat there and talked with this kid for several minutes. Not because any cameras were around, but because he seemed genuinely concerned. The graciousness not only came from Ben, but his sister as well. Carlee was there to help out some of the kids with putting pinnies on. But she was more than accommodating taking a picture with me when I asked her.
“We are getting spoiled here lately. First, Ben’s show in Virginia back in April. Now this……..I just can’t say enough about how amazing Ben is. Not just as a football player, but as a human being. His soon-to-be-born son will be one lucky kid.†– Steve Bishop, NY

August, 2012 - Bryce Bishop1183 views"Today is a day that we'll never forget! I open the door to get the mail and see a package at my feet. It was addressed to my son Bryce. He's 8 now, his birthday was August 10th. And knowing he had already received all his gifts already, I had no idea what it was. Then I saw the BigBen7 on the shipping label. I did seem to recall entering Bryce's name in a contest. Never thinking about winning. To our amazement, it was one of Ben's game worn cleats. The truly remarkable thing about this, the story gets better. The cleat matches the style Ben wore at home against the Ravens. As I'm comparing photos, I notice a stain on the back by the word 'Nike' that matches exactly a photo from the game. To own the game used cleat, of a childhood hero, from your very first game in Pittsburgh has to be a once in a lifetime. My eyes fill with tears just trying to take all this in. Ben and Erin, Bryce and I could never thank you enough. We are so hopeful to see Ben real soon, as to get a picture of Bryce, Ben and the newest edition to the family, Ben's shoe. Thank you both so very much!" -- Steve Bishop

October 25, 2013 - Ben receives Law Enforcement Award1182 views“To be the first one outside of law enforcement to win this award, it’s an awesome honor. The award means a lot to my foundation.†– Ben
From Teresa Varley, Steelers.com:
Ben Roethlisberger was honored on Friday afternoon at the 13th Annual Amen Corner Senator John Heinz Law Enforcement Awards Luncheon at the Sheraton Hotel at Station Square.
Roethlisberger became the first non-law enforcement individual to be honored by the Amen Corner, receiving the award for his contribution to K-9 units of police and fire departments in the Pittsburgh area and throughout the country through his foundation.
The luncheon annually honors a select group of police officers for their heroic actions, with 10 officers from the Western Pennsylvania area honored this year. Each of the law enforcement officers will receive a statuette, modeled after the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial near Heinz Field.
Congratulations on this honor, Ben! It is well deserved. Zeus is wagging his tail from Heaven!
*Thank you to Mr. Stokey, WTAE news anchor & sports director, for the photos!
